Cheer Coach Legal Battle – In a recent development, the lawsuit accusing Monica Aldama, the renowned cheer coach, of covering up a cheerleader’s sexual assault has been officially dismissed. Monica Aldama, well-known for her role in the popular show ‘Cheer,’ took to Instagram to share her thoughts on the case and shed light on the emotional toll it took on her life over the past six months.
Aldama’s Instagram post was accompanied by a Bible verse emphasizing the importance of truth: “Then you will know the truth, and the truth shall set you free. John 8:32 🙏🏻❤️.” In a detailed note, she expressed a mix of relief and lingering sadness and anger. Aldama revealed the letter of dismissal and highlighted her dissatisfaction with the investigation process, especially her suspension from USA Cheer in May, which she claimed lacked fairness.
Despite making numerous attempts to secure an interview, Aldama expressed frustration, stating, “Evidence be damned, guilty until proven innocent.” She described the six-month delay as a period of personal brokenness, with constant online attacks targeting both her and members of Navarro Cheer. The toll on her mental health was evident, with difficulties in sleeping, eating, and even breathing.
Calling for transparency in USA Cheer’s investigation processes, Aldama demanded a more open and fair approach. She accused USA Cheer of failing her and proposed the idea of a public roundtable talk to address concerns and bring more clarity to the situation.
This legal battle began in April when a cheerleader alleged that Aldama, along with squad members and school staff, discouraged her from reporting a sexual assault. The cheerleader claimed Aldama offered career assistance in exchange for not filing a report. Aldama vehemently denied the allegations, stating they were “wildly inaccurate.”
