Hey, so, Disney’s live-action Snow White with Rachel Zegler is gonna take a bit longer to hit theaters. They bumped the release date from March 22, 2024, to March 21, 2025.
They dropped a sneak peek pic on Friday. It’s Zegler, 22, all decked out with Dopey, Grumpy, Sneezy, Bashful, Happy, Sleepy, and Doc. And guess what? The movie’s gonna have some fresh tunes from the folks who did The Greatest Showman, Benj Pasek and Justin Paul.
You know that OG animated Snow White from 1937? That was a game-changer, right? First-ever Disney princess and all. Now they’re giving it a live-action spin, following in the footsteps of Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, and this year’s The Little Mermaid.
They’ve shuffled around a bunch of other release dates too. That sci-fi animated flick Elio, done with Pixar, got moved to June 13, 2025, from March 1, 2024. And Searchlight Pictures yanked Magazine Dreams from its Dec. 8 spot without giving a new date.
By the way, that movie stars Jonathan Majors, who’s got a trial coming up on Nov. 29 after a March arrest over some domestic dispute. His lawyers are standing by his innocence.
Oh, and that film The Bikeriders with Austin Butler, Jodie Comer, and Tom Hardy? It’s under Disney’s wing, and they’re holding off on it indefinitely. It was supposed to drop on Dec. 1 originally.
But hold on, there’s still some good stuff coming. Disney’s animated musical Wish is still on track for Nov. 22. And Searchlight’s got Poor Things with Emma Stone holding down the Dec. 8 slot.
In 2025’s Snow White, directed by Marc Webb, Gal Gadot is set to play the Evil Queen.
Zegler, who’s also taking the lead in the Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes (out Nov. 17), recently spilled the beans on how special Snow White is to her. She said they really dug deep to give the character a modern twist. The OG version just wouldn’t fly with today’s audience. They even aged her up from 13 to 18 to make her more independent.
And Webb, the director, couldn’t stop singing Zegler’s praises. He said her voice is just the tip of the iceberg. Her strength, smarts, and positivity are gonna breathe new life into this classic Disney tale.
